Halal

Halal is getting more recognition nowadays in Japan. To find out more, you can check out these
websites where you search Halal restaurants and Mosque/Masjid. I have also listed
some vegetarian/vegan websites below.

Japan National Tourism Organization has this Halal page.
Halal Japan, Japan Muslim Guide, have great info on restaurants, hotels and places to pray. Halal Gourmet has a wonderful app you can download to your phone. For updated Halal info about Japan in general, you can check out Halal Media Japan. Miyagai and Hokkaido have dedicated web pages for Halal.

Kosher

Chana’s Place Tokyo and Kosher Delica are Kosher restaurants. Chabad Japan has information on Kosher food in
Japan. Japanese translation explains the foods that you can and cannot eat.

Vegetarian/Vegan

If you’re Pesca-Vegetarian, it’s easy to find food in Japan. This is because we often use fish
broth in our food. Don’t worry -- you can check out these apps and websites to find out about all
the incredible options. You get a list of delicious vegetarian and vegan restaurants. One of
Chris’s website, Truly Tokyo has great information on vegetarian/vegan dining in the Tokyo area. It’s well researched and is a must read.

Happy Cow has a phone app you can download. There is a vegan konbini in Asakusa. MATCHA has an article on it. Tokyo Vegetarian Guide is useful. While you’re in Japan, I highly recommend that you try Shojin Ryori, a special Buddhist cuisine. It became known in Zen Buddhism and is free from meat, fish or other animal products. Mediam.com and By Food have good information.

Hokkaido has a dedicated page for Vegetarian visitors.
